When I say epic, I mean epic. Check it out:
And that's just from one store.
Michael and I made a gigantic list of all of the ingredients we needed, and then, in true sneed fashion, broke it down by which stores we needed to go to in order to get them. Here's a sample of the software section, as a tease:
all purpose flour
heavy cream
vanilla extract
almond extract
nutritional yeast flakes
white miso
carrot juice
cocoa powder
olives
20 lbs onions
eggs
cornmeal
smoked salt
coriander seeds
peppercorns
cinnamon sticks
cloves
4 lbs Gruyere
dried porcini mushrooms
lemons
sun dried tomatoes
microgreens
galangal
lemongrass
coriander root
kaffir lime leaves
fried shallots
And the hardware:
muffin tin
tart pans
ring mold
kitchen towels
crystal cleaner
My somewhat lame attempt to be artistic with one of the new tart pans:
Maybe it would look better in sepia? Anyway, if you can believe it, we're still not quite done with the shopping --- there were one or two odds and ends that we weren't able to find on our massive Whole Foods run, so we'll have to head out tomorrow in order to complete the shopping mission. But we're getting close.
That was yesterday. Today is general house-straightening in preparation for house cleaning, which will happen tomorrow. All of the new plates and silverware are getting washed, and the new tablecloths (thanks, mom- and dad-in law!) are spread out on the dining room table to air out and un-wrinkle. After some prompting from both mothers, we decided to get black tablecloths, and they look very dramatic, if I do say so myself:
Tomorrow: more cleaning, more shopping, and twenty pounds of onions prepare to meet their maker. Stay tuned.
